They Shoot Bloggers, Don't They?
Eamon Knight is reporting the demise of Brian Larnder's Primordial Blog, apparently due to objections by Brian's employer. That's truly a shame. Brian had one of the more original voices in the blogosphere, a wicked sense of humor and often posted really nice artwork of nearly nekkid women.
He also had a good take on the whole science-religion-atheism kurfuffle since he was a former fundamentalist Christian who had migrated to atheism.
He'll be sorely missed.

I loved that blog. I wondered what happened to it - the other day I got a message that I wasn't invited? when I had never seen that before.
I wish him the best.
I wish him the best.
Um, I sort of got the impression he wants to start establishing a veil of ano/pseudo-nymity, hence my deliberate omission of his name in my post. Just a thought....
Here's the last post still visible in my reader:
Note To All My Regular Readers
from Primordial Blog by blank
I know a lot of my regular readers have been wondering what happened to this blog so I thought I would post a quick note of explanation.
My employer was not too happy to discover that I had been writing a blog and thought that my choice of topics reflected badly on them and on my position in the community. As I prefer receiving regular paychecks to blogging, we came to the agreement that it would be best if the blog was removed from the internet.
Thank you to all the kind people who have enjoyed my writing over the years and have stopped by to comment - it's been great getting to know many of you, but now it is time for me to move on to other things. I'll still stop by to visit the atheist blogosphere from time to time, though not under my own name.

Maybe, but his employers know his name and the name of his former blog, so he'll have to manage that despite those bits of information being known. Also, his blog is going to be around as long as Google cache is still working.
If he reappears (and makes himself known or I tumble to his identity) I wouldn't link his nym with his real name or his old blog.

No problem guys, thanks for the kind words of support. My employer has made it clear that they plan to spend the next couple of years patrolling the internet looking for any sign of my return. They have already sent me a fax of that post with the message, "We're watching you". (And yes, I know you're reading this comment too).
They seem to think that I am planning to reopen my blog under a new name as soon as the coast is clear. Actually, all I meant was that I plan to still read the same blogs I always have, but that if I choose to comment I will probably do so under a different identity, not because I'm trying to sneak around and get away with something, but so that what I say won't reflect in any way on my employer or on my position as a teacher - which was one of their major complaints against me.
I'm going to take a bit of a break from the blogging game for a while and work on my courses, maybe try to write that novel I've always dreamed about publishing. Still, I'll be close by - you haven't completely heard the last of me around here.

Best of luck, Brian, in everything you do from now on.
There's more I'd like to say about your employers but I wouldn't want them taking it out on you.

Much luck, Brian. I guess I can't imagine having one's employer patrolling the internet looking for signs of one's presence. Shoot, I can't imagine my employer wasting the time and scarce human resources necessary to do that. But I understand that one has to live in one's situation and make the best of it.
Hey Brian! Sorry to read about the news. I thought maybe it was the Bahai's who were mad at you.
