Ugly Americans
Ugly rhetoric leads to ugly acts.
First there was arson at a mosque ... no, not the one at "Ground Zero," but one in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, about 900 miles, as the Cadillac flies, from "Sacred Ground."
Now there was some convenience store clerk abuse by someone too dense to know the difference between Sikhs and Muslims.
Hate is not supposed to be an American value. Unfortunately, that is something more honored in the breach than in the observance.

Ignorance and stupidity are, sadly, all-too-human traits. Americans are no more immune than any other nationality.
Not just in Amerika!
During one of the paedophile scares stirred up by gutter press, members of the public in South Wales attacked the practice of a paediatrician! As if a child molester would advertise their activities on a brass plate!

What is so sad about this is that there are very few politicians who are willing to speak out unequivocally against this sort of ugliness. Howard Dean's sad capitulation on the "Ground Zero Mosque" is a case in point. There is so little pushback from anyone in authority that it must look like none at all to these bigots.

GOD is alive and well
in a string universe
Do you really think that M-theory exists "outside space and time"?
It strikes me that if you believe that the Platonic world of ideas is real and outside our universe, then you might as well believe in God.

Dear Le Grand Fromage, yes, I think that I do believe in God in this general spiritual sense. Cheers, LM
