R.I.P.




Ray Harryhausen, died yesterday at the age of 92.

In case you don't know who he was, he made PZ Myearshertz' favorite movie, It Came From Beneath the Sea (1955), along with many others.

Comments:
Harryhausen's animations may seem quaint compared to today's CGI but, given what he had to work with at the time, the man was a genius. I still remember the thrill of watching the fight with the skeletons in Jason and the Argonauts for the first time.
 
Exactly. And many of the CGI
aficionados credit Harryhausen's inspiration for what they've since accomplished.
